  Color Changing Lamps. Full Spectrum Lights.  Buy only non-fluorescent, full spectrum lights. Fluorescent lights, including the large tubes and the new small curled energy saving tube bulbs emit mercury toxin, X-rays and other harmful substances and burn out partially, emitting unhealthy partial, unbalanced light.  Use a variety of plain bulbs mixed with sunlight through open windows: the old plain 100+ watt bulbs, the full spectrum 100+ watt bulbs shown above and some other bright non-fluorescent lights. Careful not to get to close to very strong work lights which can burn the eyes, skin.
    Be aware that a few of the new teachers books teach some yoga type eye movements: keeping the eyes looking to one side, stretching, forcing the eyes to the left or right, up, down...and keeping the eyes in that position, immobile while the head/face does not move with the eyes, the head/face is in the opposite direction. This yoga exercise is not the Bates Method. It strains, tenses the eye muscles, prevents shifting, normal eye movement, prevents central fixation, tenses the muscles in the face, head, neck and can lower the vision. The true Bates Method teaches: to let the eyes move, shift freely, avoid staring/eye immobility, to use central fixation and let the head/face move with the eyes, face the same direction the eyes move to. This keeps central fixation perfect, eyes, head/face, neck, shoulders, body muscles relaxed, moving easy and vision clear.  Copy the eye/body movements of a person with clear vision, no glasses.
   Read books by Thomas Quackenbush, Goodrich, Huxley, Corbett, Peppard, Better Eyesight Magazines, Dr. Bates books to learn the True Bates Method. Some of the books on this page teach a few non-Bates methods in their books but the books are very good and also teach very beneficial treatments and Bates method. Keep the good from these books and ignore anything that is against the Bates Method.  Be aware that some new and improved treatments have been added to the Bates Method over the years. These are beneficial and listed in the books referred to.

Eyepatchs, pinhole glasses... Do not follow any directions that come with the pinhole glasses. They are placed here due to many people asking for them. Pinholes are to be used only for a couple seconds to see a distant sign, or read fine print on a medicine bottle. The pinholes enable the person to avoid putting on eyeglasses which tense the eye muscles, reverse vision improvement, but, Pinholes block the normal function of the eye; blocks normal central fixation, shifting, full sunlight, perfect accommodation, convergence... and this leads to vision impairment. Do not read more than a few seconds with the pinhole glasses. Avoid dependence on them. Use only in emergencies and discontinue as soon as possible.
